Screech Owls do their partying at night but will occasionally peek their head out of the entrance hole to see what is going on during the daylight hours. A little bit of sawdust inside the nest box is all that is needed to satisfy the needs of a Screech Owl.
They frequently nest in old flicker or pileated woodpecker holes, so their nest boxes should be placed in or near a wooded area. For protection against predation by raccoons, they are best placed on a Tree Mirage at least 8 feet above the ground.
