Yes. Some ducks nest in wooden boxes that are mounted on poles. The Wood Duck is one of the more colorful ducks occuring along both coasts and inland waters of North America. They favor a larger nesting box that has a layer of wood chips and sawdust on its floor. Wood Ducks may raise large broods of about a dozen making the hatching and fledging quite alot of fun.
This large, round wooden nest box is a big attraction for wood ducks and viewers alike.
It is important to put a predator guard (See "Tree Mirage") on the pole to keep raccoons from climbing up and making a meal of the sitting duck or its eggs.
